Perinatal newsletters will be archived here, with the name indicating the year and month of publication. After the link, there will be a very abbreviated table of contents. As I have time, salient points will be extracted and placed elsewhere within the OB-Gyn section of this website, so that downloading a file will not be necessary.

  • New abnormal pap guidelines
  • List of multiple areas to watch out for in prenatal care, including
    • Sign tubal paper after 20 weeks but before 35 weeks
    • Federally funded tubal consent is used for MediCal (TR, TO, GO), non-federally funded for HO, PP
    • On East Bay Perinatal ultrasounds, calculate EDD from their "gestational age", not on what they list as "Final EDD"
    • Consider progesterone injections for anyone with history of idiopathic preterm delivery
    • Pre-eclampsia workups should be started and followed-up on L & D. If you start work-up in clinic, have patient follow-up on L&D the next day
    • If HepB SAg +, get also viral load, LFTs, eAg, eAb
    • Elective cesareans are at 39 weeks. If based on outside ultrasound, send a copy to L&D
    • Short cervix (< 2.5) at less than 32 weeks or funneling of cervix requires immediate consult whether cerclage is indicated
    • Ultrasounds showing significant IUGR (especially if less than 3%) need a delivery plan
    • Sonos with possible previa need follow-up as well as instructions to patient for pelvic rest after 24-26 weeks while awaiting verification
